She whispered, "I love you, Russ."
"I love you back."
"Don't take any chances. Grab the first bunch of berries you find and come back."
He looked through the opening. Coarse brown hair began sprouting from his arms like worms fleeing oversaturated ground. This time he had no trouble picturing the mountain in his mind.

Kyna followed his progress until he was swallowed up by the storm. "It's like living with Lassie."
She turned back to the fire and added another stick with a secret smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I bet he comes back with Bambi's mother."
Amazement was the only way to describe the way she felt. To be in a relationship with a man . . . Well, okay, to be in a relationship with anyone she actually trusted.
"What an odd sensation."
The one thing she knew for certain was that from now on, her life would never be dull.
The pile of kindling was getting low so she crawled to the back of the cave to look for more wood. While shifting the rocks around, she uncovered a few pieces of broken pottery buried among the detritus and began scraping away at the dirt and leaves with her fingers. When she moved one particularly large stone, the entire cairn began to wobble and then it collapsed like a house of cards. Kyna sneezed several times and then noticed the sudden brush of chilled wind that caressed her cheek.
"Hello!"
She waited until the dust settled and then saw the opening and her eyes widened. "Oh, wow!"
She scrambled over the rubble and stuck her head and shoulders into the hole.
It was almost like waking up blind. She could hear a stiff wind whistling past her ears. A wind that carried a dry, musty fetor that made her want to take a bath, but she couldn't see
